The Role:

Afterpay seeks an experienced Account Executive with a proven track record in new logo acquisition and a proactive approach to join our Premium SMB Sales Team. This position engages with all merchant categories in both retail and e-commerce throughout Australia & New Zealand. You will develop your own outbound prospecting strategy and collaborate with the Business Development team to cultivate a client portfolio. Responsibilities include lead generation, cold calling, and emailing to spark interest and finalize deals by presenting Afterpay as a payment solution to potential merchants. This role demands superior communication abilities, persistence, and a talent for building rapport with prospects to negotiate and secure complex agreements.

You will:

  • Analyze the business objectives & payment requirements of merchants to implement a consultative sales strategy.
  • Carry out prospecting, discovery sessions, and pitch Afterpay as a tailored solution meeting business needs through effective presentations.
  • Implement a predictable, repeatable, and scalable outbound sales methodology to build your pipeline and close sales (prospecting includes cold calling, cold emailing, social selling, etc.).
  • Collaborate with our Business Development Team to convert and close cold, outbound leads.
  • Spearhead the introduction of Afterpay to merchants across all sectors & channels (retail & e-commerce).
  • Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closing and work with other departments for smooth onboarding.
  • Meet and surpass annual targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) via proactive outbound sales initiatives.
  • Leverage previous sales experience to devise an innovative go-to-market plan.
  • Actively cultivate new partnerships to drive revenue during the initial 365 days, ensuring merchants adhere to best practices for Afterpay integration.
  • Use Salesforce & associated sales tools for tracking, monitoring, and reporting on sales activities, pipeline status, and results.

You have:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a full-cycle sales closing role.
  • A proven history of surpassing sales goals, finalizing complex transactions, and business development (e.g., sourcing and acquiring new logos).
  • The capability to independently manage deals in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to work well within a team.
  • Previous experience with Salesforce or an equivalent CRM.
