Where You’ll Be Working
Our Yarwun alumina refinery, located about 10km north-west of Gladstone in Central Queensland, has been operating since 2004 and produces over three million tonnes of alumina annually.
Around 700 employees and 350 contractors support the site each year, particularly during planned maintenance shutdowns. As a forward-thinking site, Yarwun is leading the way in adopting new technologies—like 3D printing, robotics, and drones—to enhance operational performance. It’s also home to Rio Tinto’s cutting-edge Queensland Research and Development Centre (QRDC).
